Dr. Jonathan Callia DDS, MS

of Central Texas Periodontics to our office.

Dr. Callia graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2000 with his DDS as an honors graduate in oral surgery, then completed his masters degree in oral biology and received his specialty certificate in Periodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2003. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Capital Area Dental Society, and Academy of Osseointegration.

He continues to improve his own knowledge by pursuing continuing education and sharing this knowledge lecturing and speaking on topics as diverse as dental implants to soft tissue esthetics. Dr. Callia and his staff provide CE seminars and lunches throughout the year as part of the Academy of General Dentistry’s Program Approval for Continuing Education, known as PACE.

Outside the office, Dr. Callia and his wonderful, and out-of-this-world beautiful wife, Neda, have two amazing daughters, Kaitlyn and Roya and their dogs, Lyla and Ebby . His many hobbies include golfing, playing guitar and drums, running and hiking, boating, reading and volunteer work.  

What is a Periodontist?

Periodontist are specialty dentists just like an endodontist. They help with oral inflammation, placing dental implants, and the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. They receive an additional three years of training beyond dental school to ensure they have extensive training in these areas as well as in cosmetic periodontal procedures.

As specialists in their field, periodontist are up to date with the latest technology in their field and are able to treat more complex or problematic cases than a regular hygienist as well as severe gum disease or patients with complex medical histories.
